Frank Weidema, Partner at Weidema van Tol, will be participating in a panel discussion at the Greater Zurich Area event in California this week.
The afternoon event, entitled ‘Big Data & Security in the Greater Zurich Area: Mountains instead of Bank Vaults?’, takes place this Wednesday (September 16). It will center around the idea that data security and privacy standards for businesses in various industries are increasingly the decisive factor for success.
Alongside his fellow panelists, Frank will discuss Switzerland’s tax position in light of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) guidelines including Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS), the proposed alignment of the Swiss tax legislation within the framework of international developments and its impact on current Swiss structures and pending legislation. Also to be discussed are public support for innovation and R&D projects, university-industry collaborations, and understanding the difference between capital environments in the US and Switzerland.
The discussion will be moderated by Simran Kaushal, Partner for International Tax Services at PwC. Frank will also be joined on the panel by Uwe Carl, International Tax Director at PwC, Philipp Stauffer, Founder and CEO of Onor, and Oliver Haugen, Senior Project Leader at swissnex Outpost NY.
Frank has 27 years’ experience providing legal and tax advice, and currently specializes in the provision of tax advice to multinational enterprises. Before founding Weidema van Tol, he practiced law as a partner in Luxembourg, Swiss and US-based law firms, and worked as a tax attorney in Amsterdam, Brussels, London and Zurich.
